Lúthien and Beren arrive on eagles' wings at the border of Doriath, and once again appear before king Thingol and queen Melian. The task has been fulfilled - Silmaril is indeed in Beren's hand right now. It's just a small, insignificant detail, that the very same hand is in the intestines of Morgoth's werewolf... But, will Thingol also adopt this point of view? Will he grant Beren the "hand" of Lúthien?

This funny song has the answer, involving greying hair, spiteful neighborly relations, and a daughter kindly reminding her father that, by now, she's been a grown-up for several millennia ;)

This song has been called tentatively "Menegroth II", while the "Jewel for jewel" song was "Menegroth I". As is often the case in musical drama, they refer to each other with similar musical motives, depicting almost the same situation - Lúthien and Beren before Thingol's throne - except much has happened in-between. Though both songs came out very well, the author's own opinion is very modest. "Routine. We needed to plug that hole, so I wrote something, never mind muses," she said.

‘Tis not my fault that you forbode us to go!
Your symphaties are really limited.
For I am adult now, don’t you see,
now and for few thousand years…
