Přechod přes Sirion Píseň lidí I. věk Epická
(Crossing the Sirion)Pád Gondolinu Composed 1985 Recorded 4. - 5. 5. 2019
The journey from the coast to Gondolin was extremely difficult. The long and harsh fell winter began, the worst Beleriand had ever experienced, the county was full of enemies, and Tuor and Voronwë suffered from hunger and frost. Moreover, it was difficult for Tuor to accept that he was walking blindly into the unknown without knowing whether their goal was nearing. In addition, the mighty river Sirion stood in their way, which they dared to overcome only under the gaze of the great Manwë´s eagles, guarding them from the Orcs. Soon after, they finally reached the dry river, where the secret entrance to Gondolin was found.

The original lyrics by Alex Lewis:
Crossing the Sirion
D
The way I’m short on every breath
G D A
Shows me I’m closer now to death. It’s wintertime
D
We’ve walked along a lonely track
G A G
And though I’m never turning back. It’s wintertime
Emi
Elf lords may prosper
G A G
But men can die of cold
Malduin is frozen black,
No food, no fire, no road
The memory is very grim
I heard him calling Faelivrin. The dark sword cried
And nine days north the Teiglin crossed
Fell Winter holds the north in bonds. It’s wintertime
Elf lords may prosper... as above
D A
Crossing the Sirion
G A
Under the eagles gaze
D A
Crossing the Sirion
G A
Walking now for days
D A
Crossing the Sirion
Hmi G
Warn me one last time:
D A
If I’d never meant to come
G A
I’d not brave the winter time
D A
If I’d never meant to come
G A D
I’d not brave the winter time
For thirty seven weary days
We’ve come through evil’s deadly maze. It’s wintertime
And to a stony shallow cave
Our last crumbs now we’ve sat and ate. It’s wintertime
Elf lords may prosper... as above
Crossing the Sirion... as above
