(Out of the Fire Into the Sky)

Falešné společenstvo Composed 2013 Recorded 2014

Pisen

Simple but catchy song describing the famous escape from the top of the pines with the help of the eagles. Written by British musician Alex Lewis exclusively for the performance of the Czech group Falešné společenstvo (False Fellowship) Some members of FF are acquaintanced with Alex - in the past they translated his song cycle about the fall of Gondolin into Czech. We found this song very handy in teaching the audience the names of all the dwarves involved in regaining Erebor.

The original text by Alex Lewis:

Out of the fire into the clouds
Alex Lewis
12.7.13. tune 19.7.13.

Out of the frying pan
Into the fire
Out of the fire
Into the clouds
Gandalf leapt
But was carried higher
Away from the goblins
All gathered around

Chorus:
Dori and Ori
Balin and Dwalin
Fili and Kili and Thorin so fast
Bifur and Bofur
Nori and Bombur
Oin and Gloin and Bilbo the last

As the last fir tree
Of the five
Burst into flame
And burnt on high
Gwaihir climbs
Into the peaks
Sets them all down
As the wizard speaks

Chorus

And in the glittering moonlight
They cooked rabbits to eat
Brought to them by the eagles
On the ledges so steep

And in the morning
Bilbo awoke with
Sun in his eyes
The eagles they spoke
Took them down
To the Carrock tall
By the river
One and all

Chorus
